The only certified Cinnamomum kanehirae Hayata Forest
Certified with FSC
"Taiwan Leader" is the only company that has obtained FSC™ FM/COC certification from the International Forest Management Council. We plant 580,000 square meters of reforestation land of Niu-Chang tree in mountainous areas of Miaoli, Taiwan using international standards. We aim to achieve sustainable operations and protect the ecological environment by putting effort in contributing to the planet.
Social Responsibility
In order to achieve sustainable development goals, we aim to protect Taiwan's natural ecosystem and secure the precious Niu-Chang tree species in Taiwan. In line with global forest carbon sequestration regulations and environmental trends, we cooperate with the Forest Research Institute and domestic related academic research institutions to actively promote long-term reforestation projects for Niu-Chang tree. In order to achieve sustainable management of forest land and balance social, economic and environmental development, Taiwan Leader has conducted a 58-hectare reforestation project for Niu-Chang tree at an altitude of 850 meters in the mountainous area of Miaoli. We use superior nutritional strains of Niu-Chang seedlings from the Forest Research Institute and commit to complying with forest certification principles and criteria. In addition to focusing on the development of Niu-Chang-Chih market, we also consider "reforestation of Niu-Chang tree" as an important goal in sustainable development.
Economic aspect
︱Creating added value for the Niu-Chang tree and promoting sustainable management of forest land.︱
Short-term:Through phased and regional approach, renovate the existing forest land by harvesting the mature trees as a source of economic income.
Long-term: Through growth volume planning and harvesting, control the source of raw materials for cultivating Niu-Chang tree seedlings, ensuring the acquisition of high-quality Niu-Chang tree seeds, increasing the productivity of forest land and self-sufficiency of Niu-Chang tree, and at the same time creating added value for the Formosan Niu-Chang tree.
Environmental aspect
︱Conduct forest management in an environmentally friendly way.︱
Short-term:Conduct forest renewal, replacing previously poorly-growing Japanese cedar forests with the native Taiwan species, Cinnamomun Kanehirae Hayata, and protect them to reduce theft and damage to the forest by unruly individuals (mountain rats). During operations, give consideration to the impact of the operations on the environment and effectively protect and monitor the surrounding environment and changes during the operation period, especially in areas alongside streams and steep slopes, ensuring to reduce the environmental impact of afforestation operations.
Long-term:Properly manage the forest land, achieve carbon reduction and carbon sequestration efficiency, and have a positive impact on the earth's environment. At the same time, retain a certain area of forest land for the restoration of natural forests, with the long-term goal of promoting the recovery of the forest land to a natural forest state.
Social aspect
︱Valuing the rights and interests of workers, people and local communities.︱
Short-term:Providing a safe working environment for workers, protecting their rights and benefits, and complying with government regulations. Communicating with local people appropriately and respecting the culture and customs of indigenous people and local communities.
Long-term:Conducting research and management of Taiwan Niu-Chang tree seed sources, artificially breeding, planting, restoring, and managing the growth of Taiwan Niu-Chang tree seedlings, and presenting a complete demonstration. This will help promote the forestry industry. By producing Taiwan Niu-Chang wood, establish a legal and fair trading platform to supply market demand and reduce the occurrence of illegal logging and forest-related cases caused by malicious theft of Taiwan Niu-Chang wood.
